Then add water and massage in circular motion for 10 seconds. It will bubble up when this is done. After 10 seconds, wash it off.

Sunway Putra Mall With The Most Number Of Origami Rabbits In The Malaysia Book Of Records

Sunway Putra Mall broke the Malaysia Book Of Records with the most number of origami rabbits to celebrate this year's Mid-Autumn festival. It was a different shopping experience with the Japanese culture as part of their décor and activities. My son and I enjoyed seeing all the origami rabbits and we learnt to make one too. 

‘Tales of the Moonlight’ décor is inspired by a folktale of the ‘Rabbit on the Moon’ where the mall’s visitors will be welcomed with a view of 8,888 origami rabbits displayed in different sizes and colours, surrounded with warm coloured lanterns, and a 14 feet pagoda that resembles the legendary folktale ambience.

“Rabbits are chosen as part of our décor because it is significant in the Asian culture and according to the legend, there is a rabbit ‘Usagi’ who lives on the moon and is said to be pounding mochi in a mortar.” Said Ms Phang Sau Lian, General Manager of Sunway Putra Mall.

In conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival happening from 6 to 24 September, Sunway Putra Mall has been awarded with The Malaysia Book of Records for the ‘Most Number of Origami Rabbits’ under the Human Achievement category as displayed at their Main Concourse.

During the event, The Malaysia Book of Records certificate was presented to MsPhang Sau Lian by The Malaysia Book of Records representative Mr K.Buvanasewaren Naidu A/L Krishnasamy.

Present to witness the event was Mr Raymond Chin, founder of Touching Lives Club Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, together with school students, who was among the 800 school and college students that was involved in making the project a success. The  students were namely from St. John’s Institute, SMK Subang Utama, Taylor’s University (Lakeside campus), Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Gombak, Sunway College, and children from Yayasan Chow Kit. 

This marks their second achievement after ‘The Tallest Lantern Made out of Recycled Fabrics’ achieved last year.

During the event, guests were greeted with a live sketch performance by a drum performance by The Season Drum team followed by a KendyLife, a self-taught artist and a Japanese singing performance by Johan Yusof.

Throughout Mid-Autumn festival, there will be exciting activities that await their visitors. The mall will be hosting their annual Lantern Parade on 22^nd September where the first 250 participants to register will receive a mooncake and a lantern for FREE.

“This is one of our effort to promote the beautiful culture that we have in this multi-racial society as well as to tighten the bonds with the community around us. We hope this will create meaningful memories for all our visitors,” added Ms Phang.  

Apart from that, there will also be arts and crafts workshops such as lantern arts and crafts workshop, Bento making session, Mochi making, rabbit origami workshops and more!  

The festival is not complete without sweets delicacies! Look out for an array of offerings such as mooncakes, hampers, tea and more available at the Main Concourse and other outlets. Colourful lanterns are also available throughout the festive period. Visitors can also bask in the various delicacies offered at Shojikiya Food Fair, located at East Wing, Ground Floor.

CELEBRATING THE TRADITION & ARTS OF MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL WITH CHERAS LEISUREMALL

My daughter and I were at Cheras LeisureMall's launch of "Moonlit Blossoms Of Mid-Autumn" to see the creative and very beautiful lantern competition with guests and panel of judges. Cheras LeisureMall continues in its traditional Mid-Autumn celebration this year from 2 - 30 September. Inspired by the theme of “Moonlit Blossoms of Mid- Autumn”, the mall will celebrate one of the legendary Mid-Autumn festival folklore figures – Chang’E, also known as the Goddess of the Moon.

The opening performances by students were entertaining.

This year’s Mid- Autumn celebration focuses on the art of lantern-making as an effort to conserve this time- honoured tradition that has existed for centuries. Many traditions have been lost in the course of time as modern development began to overtake olden day practices, and we didn’t want this beautiful art to face the same fate. Therefore, Cheras LeisureMall has continuously taken the initiative to organise lantern-related activities throughout 20 years as a means to educate and celebrate with the younger generation.”

Cheras LeisureMall's annual lantern-making competition always impressed me because the lanterns are very creative, colorful and beautiful. This year, Cheras LeisureMall has managed to attract 44 handcrafted beautiful giant lanterns and over 1,000 floral-themed lanterns, created and submitted by shoppers and students from schools and academy such as SJK (C) Confucian, SJK (C) Jalan Davidson, SJK (C) Lai Meng, SJK (C) Nam Keong, and Global Art.

Prizes for the Lantern-making contests comprise cash prizes, cash vouchers from Cheras LeisureMall and OSIM, as well as exclusive gifts - totalling over RM100,000.

The prestigious panel of judges include Mr. Phillip Wong, Board Member of National Visual Arts Development Board, Mr. Chin Wan Kee, Professional Sculptor Artist & Sculptor Senior Lecturer of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Mr. Chua Kim Long, Chinese Lantern Art & Paper-cutting Master, and skillful art instructors, Mr. Wan Kok Loong and Mr. Tan Hock Tong.

Lanterns submitted by the contestants will be hung throughout the mall to enhance the ambience of this joyous celebration. Members of the public are invited to cast their votes for their favourite lantern masterpieces at Level 2, LeisurePlex (near Mizudo). Results will be announced in mid-September and the prize-giving ceremony will be held on 29 September 2018 at 11:00am.

Sunway Group Launches #JomMalaysia Carnival At Sunway City

My family and I celebrated 'Merdeka' day at the #JomMalaysia Carnival in front of Sunway Resorts Hotel & Spa on 31 August 2018. This carnival with the national theme 'Sayangi Malaysiaku' aims to bring Malaysians from all walks of life to spend the National Day together as one community. 

The carnival was officially launched by Sunway EXCO Member, Puan Sri Datin Seri (Dr) Susan Cheah, along with Sunway Group Brand Marketing and Communications Senior General Manager, Jane Poh. Speaking at the launch, Jane Poh said, "A community that plays together, stays together, and we hope that the #JomMalaysia Carnival will deliver a sense of history, encourage the fostering of new friendships and strengthen family bonds to make us an even stronger nation."

The event kicked off with an impressive drum performance by students from the Sunway University.

My family and I enjoyed exploring the "Evolution Tunnel" which was built within an existing rock tunnel. Seeing all the antiques displayed reminded me of my younger times. Here, the crowd marvelled at the unique historical timeline which showcased Malaysia's rich historical heritage alongside Sunway's transformation from its early mining days into a multinational conglomerate, in tandem with Malaysia's progress as a nation.

Flavours of Malaysia had many stalls where visitors can enjoy local delights such as nasi kerabu, satay, rojak, cendol, laksa, otak-otak and lots more delicious food. 

There were also "Childhood Food Store" where visitors bought their favorite snacks such as White Rabbit Candy, Haw Flakes, Apollo Chocolate Wafers, Roti Ice Cream and Eye Glass Candy. Arts and crafts, clothing and toys were sold at the Heritage Street section.

Visitors had fun playing old games such as batu seremban, congkak, sepak bulu ayam and eraser battle at the Tradisional Malaysian Games section. 

The event also saw Malaysians pledging to create a greener and more sustainable Malaysia, signing names on leaved which would result in a tree sapling being planted in Sunway Iskandar, Johor. Sunway is targeting to obtain 6,000 pledges which will translate to 6,000 trees being planted.

This carnival brought back lots of childhood memories for me and my family enjoyed our 'Merdeka' celebration at the Sunway City Carnival. My children also enjoyed seeing all the antiques which they have never seen before. We hope to join more events like this in the future because it is good to encourage love among Malaysian to make us a stronger nation.

Tun M And Tun Siti's LEGO Mural Unveiled At Carousell's "Sayangi Malaysiaku" LEGO Art Exhibition

As Malaysians celebrate the country’s 61st independence day, Carousell, Republic of Bricks (ROB) and Sunway Pyramid Mall unveiled an array of unique murals built entirely from LEGO bricks celebrating our country.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah’s LEGO mural is the highlight of the exhibition, beginning 30 August to Sunday, 2 September 2018 at LG2, Central Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.

18 unique LEGO mosaics will also be on display, featuring interesting Malaysian moments, culture and sceneries, coupled with LEGO-themed activities for visitors by Carousell. LEGO fans can also connect with LEGO collectors across Malaysia on Carousell.

“The LEGO builders and fans have long traded and exchanged ideas via our platform and we in turn focus on creating authentic relationships with our communities. Naturally, Merdeka is the perfect opportunity for us to engage the LEGO fan community while celebrating 61 years of independence which highlights their creativity,” said Tang Siew Wai, Country Head of Carousell Malaysia.

Siew Wai added that hobbyists and enthusiasts could buy exclusive LEGO collections on Carousell. “To date, we have approximately 1 million LEGO listings on Carousell. This includes exquisite and scarce pieces of LEGO items to suit the user’s needs.”

“Sunway Pyramid has always been a strong supporter of the creative arts, advocating a variant of artists to display their pieces in our mall. Our collaboration with Carousell and ROB is part of our continuous efforts to offer a variety of activities to our shoppers especially on this very significant Merdeka celebration,” said Amy Hoo Ooi Mei, Senior Manager - Marketing of Sunway Pyramid.

“Matching different LEGO pieces to build this mural resembles the diversification of our culture and races living together in peace and harmony. The murals were built by artists from ROB to convey our love for our country and promote creativity with bricks. Carousell and Sunway Pyramid have been supportive partners in developing the community, and we hope that through this initiative, more will follow suit and develop their interest by joining our LEGO community on Carousell,” said Zen Chan Yang Shan, President of ROB.

A total of 166,888 pieces of LEGO bricks were used for the portraits displayed at the event, with 9,216 pieces used for Tun M and Tun Siti’s mural which was built by members of ROB.

ROB is a LEGO fan interest and networking group that focuses on LEGO projects, events and display in Malaysia. Over the years, the group has gathered LEGO hobbyists across the country to learn and share their passion. At present, the group has over 1,000 members that consist of enthusiasts from all walks of life.

Museum Of Illusions Kuala Lumpur

I brought my family to visit Museum Of Illusions Kuala Lumpur recently. This is the place where you can see things that may not be true. Our brain gathers information from our senses, enhancing some details and ignoring others. This is where you will open your mind, twisting and turning your inner thoughts.

We had a great experience exploring all the exhibits, rooms and even testing our minds to solve puzzles and understand things. My family and I learnt a lot during our visit here. This is an amazing and unimaginable experience!

Look at me on the plate going to be eaten. Haha... Over here you can let your imagination run wild and have lots of fun!

The color room where you can see mixtures of colors from the three main colors of red, blue and yellow.

The Vortex tunnel where you will feel dizzy as it spins fast.

The Chair Illusion is one of my favorite.
