Aladdin and the Magic Lamp Show at Resorts World Genting

A whole new world will be brought to life as the Aladdin and The Magic Lamp production takes over the Genting International Showroom stage at Resorts World Genting this month. Combining a live cast with state-of-the-art 3D holographic projections, the production by China’s DT Kids Theatre will amaze and astound audiences with a spectacular show of the classic Arabian Nights tale of a poor tailor’s apprentice who discovers a magic lamp and the genie contained inside.

There are also interactions with audiences such as asking the hidden number using mathematical solutions to unlock the door to the hidden treasures. Children love these interactions very much. A funny one was Aladdin asking audiences to find his stinking socks where he wanted to hide the magic lamp.

With its expertise in crafting cutting-edge technological stage marvels, China’s DT Kids Theatre (part of the larger DT Kids multimedia group) has the pedigree to enrapture children between the ages of 4 to 12. The troupe focuses on bringing classic fairy tales to animated glory, with popular and long-running productions such as Finding The Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Pinnochio and Adventures of the Monkey King: The Golden Hooped Rod, which was staged in Resorts World Genting last year.

Aladdin and The Magic Lamp was developed by DT Kids Theatre in 2015, premiering at the Shanghai Zendai Himalayas Art Centre. Produced by DT Kids Theatre chief director Zhang Yi and choreographed by Mic Thompson, a Disney dance production veteran that has shared the stage with Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, the show is a visual tour de force. Zhao Zi Fu, actor and host and Yin Shi, with multiple musicals under her belt front the cast as Aladdin and Jasmine, respectively. Actors are aided by 3D projections that accompany their actions, from Aladdin hurtling away from a giant rolling fire boulder to the evil magician summoning colossal spears of sand to bringing the genie to wise-cracking life. Set to a script by screenwriter Yin Heng and music by Wang Lingyun, the 65-minute English-language with Chinese subtitles production is one that must be seen in person to fully appreciate.

Aladdin and The Magic Lamp begins its run at Genting International Showroom on March 9, 2018, playing until 25 March, 2018. The show plays daily at 8.30pm Monday to Saturday, with a 4pm matinee show on Saturdays. On Sundays, there is a single 5pm showing, with an additional 2pm show on March 11, 2018 only. Tickets are priced at RM86 (PS1), RM116 (PS2) and RM156 (VIP), with a 10% discount applicable for Genting Rewards Members. An additional processing fee of RM4 applies to all ticket purchases.

For this coming school holidays, it would be great to plan a trip to Resorts World Genting because there are lots of exciting things and new attractions for children and adults. You can read more about these new attractions from my previous 2 posts : Ripley's Believe It or Not and Jurassic Research Center and Alive Museum, Zombie Outbreak and The Play TIme Video Games Park

A very special experience, Back to Jurassic will be held at Level 1 of Sky Atrium from 9 March to 1 April with an animatronic dinosaur and huge dinosaur display, dino kiddie ride and even a Human Raptor cosplay lined up specially for the March school holidays. Children can also have a superb time colouring with the egg painting activities and dinosaur shirt colouring activities. I brought my parents and children for 2 days 1 night visit to see the new attractions here and everyone enjoyed themselves very much.

  2. I'd so love to watch Aladdin stage performance. I bet it would be different. Too bad I can't get away until after the run is over, so I guess I can only take delight in these photos that you have shared.
