Dining With The Queens: Legumes “Nyonya” Mother’s Day Buffet, A Treat Fit For A Queen

Mother's Day is a very important day to show mothers how much we love and appreciate them. So, the best Mother's Day celebration is to bring mothers out for delicious food and some fun.

Malaysia catering brand Legumes hosted a preview event for Mother's Day celebration at the Fun Fun Event Space in Puchong. Lunch was served as a tantalizing teaser for Dining With The Queens, an upcoming 3-day buffet dinner dedicated to honouring mothers.


The highlight of the preview was the presentations by Legumes CEO & co-founder Ms. Siow Miqi and Sales Director Mr. Earon Teh. Miqi shared the story of Legumes’ history, and its evolution into a renowned catering brand. She also spoke about their inspiration for this year’s Mother’s Day buffet event. 

Earon then outlined Legumes’ current range of services and upcoming projects, including plans to cater to universities and local institutions also a brand-new range of Legumes “Mini Buffet” that cater to a smaller and more casual and private functions. He also introduced the brand’s new logo and brand assets that will reflect their new ventures. 


Adding to the celebration were cooking demonstrations by COO & co-founder Mr. Kenneth Chua Wei Xian and Legumes Junior Sous Chef Nur Aufa Athiya Binti Othman, and, where they showcased the company’s range of food products. Chef Aufa prepared a grazing box that would be suitable for smaller gatherings, while Kenneth presented the local favourite Kong Pao Chicken in Yam Basket assisted by the Demi Chef, Chef James Ng Wen Jia. These sessions not only displayed their culinary skills but also highlighted the quality and creativity that Legumes brings to the table.



The preview event was not just about food. The event highlight a Showcase of “drop off catering” as well as Thematic Buffet: Moonlight Oriental. Other thematic buffet such as “Great Gastby” and “Sunshine” theme are also available in Legumes.

Guests were able to participate in various activities, including a DIY flower basket for mum, and a word search game related to the Mother’s Day event. There was also photobooth where guests could capture fun moments, as well as a social media contest to share pictures taken during the event to win fabulous prizes. 

Several guests were able to take home prizes including a vegetable box hamper that comes in beautiful LEGUMES cooler bag, and three lucky winners were given tickets for 3 pax to the Dining With The Queens Mother’s Day Dinner buffet.

The Dining With The Queens Mother’s Day Dinner buffet will take place from May 10 to 12, also at the Fun Fun Event Space. Guests will be able to choose from an array of delightful Nyonya-themed dishes ranging from poultry to seafood, with appetizers and desserts. Tickets are priced at RM168 per adult and RM88 for ages 4 to 12. Dining is free for children aged 3 years and below.

Besides celebrating mothers, diners will also contribute to a noble cause, with proceeds going to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). Each buffet dinner session also features games and prizes, adding a touch of fun and surprise for the attending mothers.

Malaysian Gen Zs Trust Influencers for Genuine Advice

‘The Future of Shopping: Engaging Generation Z Shoppers in the Digital Era’ market study by Shopee in collaboration with Kantar found that 86% of Gen Zs tend to seek "shoppertainment" apart from purchasing products, when browsing on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee. Survey respondents crave live connections with like-minded individuals while enjoying informative and entertaining content when shopping online.

In fact, a significant 71% of respondents actively seek out product reviews and demonstrations, turning to livestream features like Shopee Live to make informed purchases. They prioritise detailed product descriptions, search recommendations tailored to their needs, and live reviews from influencers for a seamless shopping experience. Malaysians resonate with Shopee Affiliates’ authentic content and genuine engagement, seeking their input and personal advice such as product durability, discounts, and preferences for each purchase.

Interestingly, while a majority of respondents seek honest and informative product reviews, 4 in 10 actively seek entertainment throughout their purchase journey. This demographic would likely be drawn to features like discounts and rewards that are exclusive to Shopee Live.
